Tania Reese
by Abel
I’m a fan of the dark atmosphere, the creepy hands, the makeup your stylist chose, and the way your eyes pop out of the darkness. What I’m not a fan of is the scarf and the lack of high fashion appeal. The scarf has ears…if I’m correct in what I’m seeing…and that takes away from the whole dark/creepy vibe. Your expression is afraid – and while that works for the overall idea of being creeped out – it doesn’t work for the assignment. You were meant to be consumed by the darkness and remain high fashion – a more sinister or seductive expression was required for this one.
|
Oh Tania, your photographer set up a really creepy looking shoot. That hand coming towards you really gives me the creeps. I think your stylist did a great job with your makeup too, but that hood looks a little awkward on you. And does that hood have ears? That’s definitely not something you want to be wearing in a dark and sinister shoot. Not very high fashion either. I also wish you were rocking an evil expression or something more seductive. You look timid and afraid, which I don’t think is what this shoot called for.

Amara Hudson
by Abillings
I really like how you were styled this round. You look like a darkened queen and the smeared mascara makes me think that the darkness is truly taking over. You remained high fashion with your look (and all the beautiful accessories), but something about this just isn’t sinister enough. I’m also thinking that you should have chose a different pose. Your arms being cut out of the shot kind of threw it off. I think something with your hands wrapping around your own throat or hugging yourself would have been a better choice. I do like this from a fashion standpoint though.

I adore your look Amara! Your stylist did an amazing job making you over into a dark queen. Well you look like a dark queen to me anyway. You look very beautiful and ethereal. I’m not too sure it was a smart move for your photographer to have you crying. It kind of takes this into a sweet and tragic realm rather than a dark one. Hmmm…maybe the tears could have worked if you had showed more of an angry expression.

I get a definite steampunk vibe from this and that’s cool. Your expression is great – although eye contact would have really sold it for me. The lace mask is great too. I’m a big fan of the creepy veins on your chin/throat. I’m not a fan of the background and the angle of your photo, unfortunately. The overall atmosphere of your photo also seems a little lighthearted. I’m not sure what it is, but something really gives me the idea that you’re not so consumed by darkness as you are just a darker being.
|
Well Hanna you look quite lovely in that top hat and lace mask. I just love your accessories! Well not so much the earring maybe, but everything else looks fab! Your hairstylist did a great job coloring your hair. It looks great on you. I like your makeup too. The veins on your face were a nice creepy touch. The only real complaint I have for your team is the backdrop! Your photographer should have chosen a darker background to give this more of a spooky vibe. Everything is on point except for that dang backdrop!

Victoria Venice

Your team rocked this assignment well. I love the whole look you have going on here – those eyes were done beautifully (pat your stylist on the back for me). I also really enjoy the veiny-blood on your chin. My favorite part though? The red cloak. It’s beautiful and it’s really a great contrast to the darkness. I really like the way it helps make you pop. The whole atmosphere is excellent too. Great work.
|
Woah Victoria you almost scared me there! The makeup department really went all out on your makeup. Those contacts look so freaky and the blood on your face gives me the creeps. You’re really embracing the darkness here! I love it! I really think your stylist deserves a raise, because you look like a high fashion evil witch staring me down with fierceness and evil thoughts! Maybe your whole team deserves one, because you look fantastic!

Baylee Jefferson

This was my favorite entry because I feel like your team grasped what was asked for almost perfectly. I was looking for someone who was consumed by the darkness and not afraid of it, but also remaining high fashion. What sold it for me was the look in your eyes. You are looking up so menacingly that it’s perfect. The grimace on your lips is great! I really liked this photo a LOT!
|
Woah Baylee! I do not want to get on your bad side girlie! If looks could kill I think you would take out the whole panel! That’s one evil stare you got! I think you pulled off the perfect expression for this. You look like an evil queen or nymph. The limbs and plum vines was a nice touch. They gave you good makeup too. Your dress looks a little blurry on camera, but I like how your makeup matches it. Also nice choice of backdrop. Your team chose wisely. I think overall your team made you look good!

Haeju Sorenson
by Strawberrigurl
Nice job on a unique idea. Your team was the only one to choose a dark creature and go with it. I really like your look here too – typically I’d say “look at the camera”, but this one worked because you have an almost longing look in your eyes. The angle is done well and I like this whole photo. The only thing I’m not 100% a fan of is the dispersing effect. It’s neat, but I think the photo was great without it as well. Nice job.
|
Oooo Haeju! You really taking risk with this. With going nude I mean. Smart move on your stylist to cover you up with some tats. The horns were a neat, unique and cool idea too. Definitely set you apart from everyone. I also like the chain nose piecing. You look like a beautiful demon, which is definitely dark. I do think some eye contact would have been nice. I’m not sure if I like what your photographer did with the effects either. The particle effect thing seems like a messy afterthought. Don’t get me wrong I like that effect, but it should have been done better or not done at all. As for anything else, is that a heart you’re levitating? It blends in with the background a lot, so it’s hard to see. Nice choice of backdrop though. Your team did a nice job overall, but just a few things could have been executed better.

Marlee Matson
by TEXASTWANGTONYA
I love the idea your team went with, Marlee. I really like the way you struck a pose that showed some emotion. That direct eye contact is so fierce that it’s spooky! Good job! I really like the necklace your stylist put on you too. The only complaint I have about this one is that the lighting is too dark. I know…this assignment was about darkness and I’m saying the photo is too dark lol…what I mean is that there is really no contrast between you and the background so it all gets blended together and looks like a bunch of black space. I would have loved to see that red forest behind you and to see more detail in your waving hair. But I liked this!
|
You look like one fierce witch, Marlee! I love the pose you're striking! Your photographer turned on the wind machine on I see. Hehe…It looks cool! Your stylish did a nice job with your look. Now the backdrop looks pretty freaking cool behind you, but your hair blends in with it. It’s hard to differentiate hair and limbs. In fact the lighting in the room looks like it was dimmed down that day too. Where was the lighting department? Between your hair, the backdrop, and the lights you don’t really stand out in this. Kind of a shame since you’re such a striking beauty.
